Pythagorean Traversal in Harmonic Time

2019

Sine Waves | 54 Minutes

World Premiere: Sotheby's Institute of Art - May 7th, 2019

In Pythagorean Traversal in Harmonic Time, a set of three sine waves, tuned in a pure 72:81:88 rational triad, is played into the room creating a complex standing waveform. This waveform is slowly altered by the movement of the 81st harmonic through space and time. As the position of this tone relative to the other two tones, static in their locations, and the position of the listener (or listeners) evolves, the sculptural reality of the sonic space becomes evident.
